MEET DARNELL SMITH
Business man, Inventor, and Technology Specialist Darnell Smith has taking a simple problem and turned it into a turnkey solution.  His story is one that qualifies him to be in the "Rags to Riches" category although he will tell you that his main goal is to network and teach people how to share in the wealth. One of his main philosophies: "People first; Profit second".  His own personal story should encourage anyone to never give up on his/her dreams!

In 2001, Darnell was permanently laid off from Lucent Technologies (now named Tyco Electronics).  His immediate lifestyle adjustment would result in a divorce and losing his home and cars just a few years later.  In  2004 Darnell found a new position but was shortly laid off again for the 2nd time.

Darnell's side business, Business in the Black that was created as part of his retirement plan soon became his full time job.  He knew that the only way he was going to survive was to generate revenue just to be able to eat.  With no home, no car, and no leads on a new job, in 2005 he accepted an offer from some friends to stay in their home until he could get on his feet. Little did Darnell know  a shifting was about to take place that would change his life; this would all happen one morning right in the neighborhood barber shop.

As Darnell waited for his hair cut, he noticed that all the people in the shop were focused on the TV hanging on the wall; they were watching it but they couldn't hear it for there was no sound.  As he looked around the shop he noticed that there were paperback books and magazines laying on the table in the waiting area, but no one was interested in reading; even the kids were glued to the soundless TV on the wall. Suddenly it dawned on him; people are lazy!  People are even lazy about information and would rather see images then read words.  He thought to myself, “If my resume was on that TV screen I bet I could get a job”.
So that day Darnell went back to where he was staying and began to investigate the markets to see if there were any types of instruments out there that would take the information from the books and magazines and integrate it with the TV on the wall.   After learning that there was no such device, he knew that he would have to invent it and use already available technology to pull it off.

After 2 days of pulling together some old computer parts and writing some software, the first prototype of A to Z Mini “Electronic” Billboards was born.

For the next 2 years Darnell built and tested systems in real places to work out the bugs and the look of the system.  He tested and redesigned the system a few times before the final design that is used today. Darnell also decided not to re-invent the wheel (PC System) and use proven PC systems that are small, powerful and with all the features needed to run his software.
